Student Support Services

The faculty at St. Josaphat School includes school psychologists, a social worker, and reading specialists. These faculty members work with classroom teachers, students, and parents to promote the success of all our learners.

School Psychologist Services
Our school psychologists provide appropriate and effective solutions to student issues in their academic and social lives. Parental involvement is an important part of providing student support services, and we welcome partnerships with parents. Services include but are not limited to:
  • Facilitation of formal and informal observations.
  • Collaboration and consultation with classroom teachers to problem solve academic and behavioral concerns and to support student needs.
  • Data-based decision-making and tiered academic and behavior interventions in collaboration with classroom teachers.
  • Direct student services, such as academic assessment, counseling, and individual interventions.
  • Referrals for further evaluation and/or special education services when appropriate.
Social Work Services
Social work services are available to all students at St. Josaphat School. Services include, but are not limited to:
  • Individual counseling
  • Small group counseling
  • Classroom-based groups
  • Classroom observations
  • Consultation with teachers and parents.
  • Referrals to outside support services.

  • Self-confidence building
  • Resilience building
  • Executive Functioning
  • Home Life
  • Academic Life
Reading Support and Intervention Services
Reading specialists provide support to all students in kindergarten through fourth grade. These services include but are not limited to:
  • Leveled reading group instruction in the general classroom.
  • Support in teaching and integrating reading and language arts skills.
  • Individual reading assessments, conducted along with homeroom teachers.
  • Individualized and small group intervention support as needed.
